I am a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach. I became interested in the field of health and wellness because as a child, my dad had some serious health challenges and my mother was dedicated to maximizing the positive aspects which he was able to control through diet and exercise. As a result, I grew up believing that health is our most basic responsibility to ourselves and the single most important responsibility that we have.
As women tend to be nurturers, often they will put their needs on a low rung of the priority list. This is a huge mistake! A life in which we neglect our health through poor diet, lack of exercise, and bad habits ultimately leads to illness, either physically, mentally, or both. Even if one is raising a family, the example of showing up for ourselves sends a powerful message to our children: “When I take care of my body and honor myself, it builds pride and self-esteem, I matter”
The National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching sets the standard for ethical behavior and scope of practice for Health Coaches. They are partnered with the National Board of Medical Examiners which oversees Physician credentialing as well as the designation of the NBC-HWC gold standard for Health Coaches that fulfill their requirements as such.
